Dr. Samar Kumar Hore is a Bangladeshi public health professional and medical educator with over two decades of experience in clinical service, public health and research, also in medical education. He is currently serving as “Research Associate” at the Center for Multidisciplinary Research at Gono Bishwabidyalay and Assistant Professor” in the Department of Community Medicine and Public Health at Gonoshasthaya Samaj Vittik Medical College (GSVMC), Savar, Dhaka.

He earned his MBBS from Sher-e-Bangla Medical College under the University of Dhaka in 1988 and later pursued a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Umeå University, Sweden, in 2007. His extensive career includes nearly 16 years at icddr,b, where he held mid-level positions and led diverse health research projects, including clinical trials and health systems research. He has also worked with BRAC and IRD-Bangladesh, contributing to nationwide public health initiatives, particularly in tuberculosis control, maternal health, Arsenic and Health care service delivery.

Dr. Samar has authored or co-authored 24 peer-reviewed publications and has served as principal or co-investigator in 9 research projects. His professional expertise encompasses field research management, data analysis (using SPSS and STATA), Manuscript writing, training facilitation, and collaboration with governmental and non-governmental organizations. In his current academic role, he is engaged in teaching, curriculum development, and mentoring medical students.

Fluent in both Bengali and English, Dr. Hore combines practical field experience with academic rigor, making him a respected figure in Bangladesh’s public health and medical education sectors.
