About Microbiology

The department offers a full-time 4-year B.Sc. (Hon’s) and 1 year 6 months M.S (Master’s) program in Microbiology. In this curriculum, principal emphasis is placed on understanding microorganisms and their interrelationships with other organisms in nature, the application of microbiology in health and medicine, environment, agriculture and industry, and the study of fundamental life processes as exemplified by microorganisms.

To be eligible for admission into the undergraduate and graduate program, the candidates must have biology, chemistry, and physics, including mathematics in their Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Examination in Science group or recognized equivalent examinations. At present, We receive 50 students per semester at the undergraduate level. There are currently 11 faculty members from different national and private institutions who are very learned, trained, experienced and enthusiastic. We have also some eminent guest professors, whose appointment justifies our commitment to quality education.
