I would like to take the privilege to welcome you all in Gono Bishwabidyalay (GB) which has been established with the spirit of our war of independence.

It is a great honour and pleasure for me to have been appointed as Vice Chancellor of Gono Bishwabidyalay by the Trustee Board of Gono Bishwabidyalay. May I take the opportunity to express my deep gratitude to the honourable members of the Trustee Board of Gono Bishwabidyalay.

Gono Bishwabidyalay (GB) – a University with a difference is one of the leading private Universities in Bangladesh has been established to create new consciousness and commitment in the field of education, particularly to foster social development and human welfare.

A very special mission of GB is to help the female members of the society, students from low-income families, children of martyrs and ethnic minorities through teaching and related activities.

This University is going to celebrate its 24th Anniversary very soon. It has the largest campus among all other private universities and started academic activities from the very beginning when private universities started in the country. It has made tremendous progress during the last 23 years of its pursuit of excellence in higher education. The graduates are serving their motherland with pride. They are also serving different parts of the world as good ambassadors from Bangladesh. 

Gono Bishwabidyalay has also become the top research University and developed several international links with many reputed universities /educational institutes in the world.

Bengali, English, Computer, Environmental Science, War of Liberation, Gender studies, Ethics and Equity courses are compulsory, and students have to work and conduct research in the villages as part of their study programmes.

GB has embarked on activities to improve the quality of educational programmes through Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), get evaluated by external peer review process and all of its programmes received ‘Good’ grades.

There is no individual owner of Gono Bishwabidyalay. The university has been established with the help of Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) Charitable Trust. The history of GK is directly connected with the battlefield of our liberation war in 1971. No other University in the country has anything similar to it.

My vision for the University is to continue our pursuit for excellence while remaining at the top as the research University in Bangladesh while maintaining the record for the excellence of teaching, research, and its service to local, national and international communities.

Our belief, sincere and hard work will create a new area with better interactions with communities for the benefit of the society at large.

In conclusion, I would like to state that the University will move ahead to accomplish excellence in research on education. We have the capacity to do so with a large number of eminent teachers, researchers, administrators and a staff that is friendly and supportive.
