Short Biography

Niranjan Biswas was born at Harirampur of Manikganj district in 1965. He passed the SSC and HSC examinations respectively from Dakshin Chandpur High School, Harirampur and Govt. Debendra College, Manikganj. He completed his BA (Hons) and MA from English Department of Dhaka University. He qualified in the BCS examination and joined the Education Cadre as Lecturer in English in 1993. Completing Departmental examinations and the Senior Scale examinations, he got promoted as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor. Then he completed the Advanced Course on Education and Management. In 2017, he was promoted as Professor of English and finished the Senior Staff Course on Education and Management. In 2024, his Leave Preparatory Retirement began and he joined Gono Bishwabidyalay, Savar, Dhaka as Professor of English. He visited Singarpore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bhutan and India for different academic purposes.

Experience as Head of the Department:

Worked as Head of the Department of Honours and Master’s teaching Deaprtment of English at Tongi Govt. College, Gazipur (2007-2013) and at Bhawal Badre Alam Govt. College (2013-Present) and performing the duties/responsibilities, such as –

• Organizing, processing and monitoring the activities for admission/enrolment at BA (Honours 1^st Year), Master’s (Preliminary) and Master’s (Final Year) of as many as 350 students in every academic year.
• Preparing class-routine at the Honours and Master’s levels’ adjusting with the Higher Secondary and Degree (Pass) levels classes of the institution, assigning the classes to the teachers of the Department and ensuring and monitoring all their classes of different levels.
• Evaluating the performance of the Lecturers, Assistant Professors and Associate Professors working at the Department annually in their A C Rs.
• Organizing and monitoring the in-course examinations (evaluation on 20 marks for each paper) including preparing question papers, conducting the examinations, examining the scripts and preparing results to send online to add to the National University’s final transcript.
• Organizing and presiding over the Viva-voce examinations for Honours 4^th Year and Master’s Final Year’s final examinations.
• Organizing the question-setting, examining scripts and preparing results of all internal tests.
• Organizing and managing to arrange excursion for the students of the Department every year, arranging and presiding over seminars with the participation of the students and the teachers of the Department and supervising and evaluating the preparation and presentation of term-paper of the Master’s Final Year students.

Operating (jointly with the Principal) the bank account of the seminar of the Department maintaining the expenditures as per financial rules and getting those annually audited by the public auditors.

02. Worked as editor of the magazine Protibhash, Bhawal Badre Alam Govt. College, Gazipur in 2018.
03. Worked as editor of the souvenir of EPD Training Course at NAEN in 2018.

Seminars –
a) Attended seminars in Bhutan and Malaysia respectively in the years of 2016 and 2018.
b) Arranged and presided over seminars/webinars of the Department of English, Bhawal Badre Alam Govt. College, Gazipur on the topics like – Imperialism and Colonialism in The Tempest, The Conditions Set by Virginia Woolf for the Promotion of Creative Genius.
Workshops –
Organized and worked as the presenter at NAEM, Dhaka as a member of the workshop committee during the trainings of ACEM and SSCEM.
