Public Health Photo Contest Jointly organized GB & GK
The Country’s second Public Health Photo Contest jointly organized by Gono Bishwabidyalay and Gonoshasthaya Kendra was held at the PHA auditorium of GK on September 23, 2019, with the theme of “Explore public health and your hidden talent in photography”
Around 1131 photographs were selected as eligible of which 10 were selected as winners and 10 as runners-up. The winners and runners-up were awarded prize bond, crest, certificates, books with the autograph of renowned public health leaders, replicas of the National Martyr’s Memorial and program posters. Ten pictures more were awarded based on convener’s choice.
Dr. Laila Parveen Banu, Vice-Chancellor (Current Charge) presided over the program where Professor Halida Hanum Akhter, Faculty, John Hopkins University, Pofessor Baizid Khoorshid Riaz, Director, National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine, Porfessor Sharmeen Yasmeen, Chairperson, Public Health Foundation of Bangladesh, Hasan Saifuddin Chandan, chief judge of the contest and the first FIAP gold medalist of Bangladesh and Prof. Farida Adib Khanum, Principal, Gonoshasthaya Samajvittik Medical College spoke on the occasion.
Dr. David L. Parker, Senior researcher, Health Partners’ Institute, USA was the keynote speaker. Manzur Kadir Ahmed, CEO, GK, delivered the welcome speech. The convener of the photo contest, Md Zohirul Alam summarized the proceedings of the contest. The organizing committee also awarded Sayeeda Khanum, Lifetime Achievement Award in photography as a country’s first female photographer.
After the deliberations and distribution of prizes, a total of 30 photos were exhibited at the photo exhibition session.
