Department of Politics and Governance

Jahid Hasan Sheikh is a Lecturer in the Department of Politics and Governance at Gono Bishwabidyalay, Savar, Dhaka. He completed both his BSS and MSS in Government and Politics at Jahangirnagar University. He served as President of the Government and Politics Debate Club, where he actively engaged in debating, academic activities, and student leadership. Prior to joining Gono Bishwabidyalay, he served as a Lecturer in the Department of Government and Politics at the Asian University of Bangladesh. He has also worked as a Research Officer at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), a Research Assistant at Development Research Initiative (dRi), and a Field Data Collector at IUCN Bangladesh. His professional experience includes academic research and field-based studies on governance, development, local government, and public policy.

His academic and research interests primarily focus on local government, electoral systems, governance, public policy, and comparative politics. He is particularly interested in understanding institutions, political processes, and governance practices through comparative and empirical approaches. He has contributed to research and publications on local government, SDG implementation, humanitarian assistance, and child labour. He has also contributed a book chapter on Gazipur Zila Parishad, which Springer Nature has accepted for publication.
