PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am a Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacy in Gono University (Bangladesh) since August 2023. Prior to joining Gono University, I served as a Professor and Head of Academic & Research Affairs in the Department of Pharmacy at State University of Bangladesh, as an Associate Professor and Head of Pharmacology Department at Lincoln University College (Malaysia), as a Visiting Research Fellow in the Faculty of Medicine at University of Malaya (Malaysia), as an Assistant Professor and Head of Pharmacy Department at Daffodil International University (Bangladesh) among others. I have obtained my PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Research on Immunopharmacology) from Okayama University, Japan. The comprehensive training, I received during my doctoral and fellowship research has enabled me to conduct in vitro and in-vivo cellular, molecular, pharmacological, toxicological, biochemical and functional studies of bioactive phytocompounds, functional foods and drugs using cell lines (immune cells, cancer cells and beta-cells) and animal models as well as prepared me to design and conduct high impact research for the discovery and development of drugs/adjuvants for the treatment of emerging diseases. Subsequently, I have also gained expertise on Computer aided drug design, discovery and development. As a Pharmaceutical scientist, my research aims to translating findings from bench to bedside. The goal of my research is bioassay guided discovery and development of novel drug molecules from natural sources, development of therapeutically effective and safe phytomedicines, supplements/adjuvants, and functional foods for the prevention and treatment of diabetes mellitus, cancer, immune-dysfunction, hyperlipidemia/fatty liver, erectile dysfunctions, etc. and elucidating their underlying mechanism of actions. I am a Paten innovator of 5 research products (patent pending): Development of novel immunobooster (Super-Boost), Antidiabetic novel formulation of functional foods (Dia-Best), Prospective anticancer phytomedicine against GBM (6-Shogaol), Lipid lowering novel nutraceutical formulation (H-Card), Novel phytomedicine formulation for erectile dysfunction (S-Power). This transformation has been possible through the implementation of an integrative approach of phytochemical, pharmacological, toxicological and clinical research experiences complemented by in silico molecular docking, dynamics simulation and formulation development.

As a faculty in the university, I have demonstrated significant growth over time in all components of the academic triad: teaching, research and service. Meanwhile, I have published 117 publications with around 4000 google scholar citations, 80 publications indexed in Web of Science and 77 publications indexed in Scopus. I am experienced with the supervision of a postdoctoral and a number PhD, Master and undergraduate students. I am working in the Editorial board of several SCI-Expanded international journals, reviewer of 70 international journals, and evaluated more than 200 scientific articles as an expert reviewer. I am now seeking an environment that will allow me to grow further as an independent scientist to contribute to the humanity, society and scientific community. I envision contributing to the field through cutting-edge research using high skills, latest technology and emerging to the human health.

FUTURE RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

I desire to continue my research activities aiming to translating research findings from bench to bedside. The goal of my research is bioassay guided discovery and development of novel drug molecules from natural sources; development of therapeutically effective and safe nutraceuticals, phytomedicines, dietary supplements/adjuvants, functional foods for the prevention and treatment of diabetes mellitus, cancer, immune-dysfunction, hyperlipidemia/fatty liver, erectile dysfunctions, etc. and elucidating their underlying mechanism of actions.

In my investigation, I use comprehensive studies using in-vitro, in-vivo and in-silico experimental techniques, and clinical trials for the investigations of phytochemical, pharmacological, toxicological, cellular and molecular and clinical assessment of the drug candidates.
