Welcome to the Department of Pharmacy, Gono Bishwabidyalay. Pharmacists play a vital role in the health care system. While responsibilities vary among the different areas of pharmacy practice, the bottom line is that pharmacists help patients get well. Pharmacist responsibilities include a range of care for patients, from dispensing medications to monitoring patient health and progress to maximize their response to the medication. On the other hand, pharmacists are involved in drug manufacturing and marketing as well as in academia, research institute, and governmental drug administration department. Pharmacists are drug experts, ultimately concerned about their patient’s health and wellness.
Department of Pharmacy, GB, is one of the oldest departments in Bangladesh among all other private universities in this sector. The Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) program of the Gono Bishwabidyalay has been designed for students to acquire a sufficient understanding of the principles and techniques of pharmaceutical science. It will provide students with a co-ordination understanding, comprehensive knowledge, and expertise in all disciplines of Pharmacy. The program will encompass Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical Technology, etc. Gono Bishwabidyalay also offers one year Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm) degree with more advanced courses. We have some organized laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment where students get enough opportunity to practice practically what they learn academically. We feel proud to support many internationally recognized Bangladeshi scientists in their scientific work through our laboratory facilities. The comprehensive Pharmacy program of the Gono Bishwabidyalay is designed to train students to become competent pharmacists. Lectures along with practical classes, international seminars, in-plant training, and tutorials will be part of the program.
