Adjunct Professor

Dr. Shahdeen Malik is an advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and head of chambers of Ergo Legal Counsel (ELC). ELC primarily focuses on a number of practice areas including but not limited to constitutional law, administrative law and election laws. Additionally, ELC litigates in a number of other areas which includes company and banking matters, criminal practice (primarily concerned with anti-corruption matters), family and personal law matters. Shahdeen Malik’s practice spans over two decades in the Supreme Court and the district court where he was enrolled in 2000 and 1996 respectively.

Outside of legal practice, Shahdeen Malik is currently serving as an independent Director of Pubali Bank Ltd. Bangladesh, as a member of the Board of Trustees in Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD), and other organizations.

Other than legal practice, Shahdeen Malik’s oeuvre of work has encompassed academia, research and policy. He had taught law in Dhaka University in the 1980s. He continues to teach as an adjunct faculty member in different universities. Previously, Shahdeen Malik had been the Director of School of Law, BRAC University (2005-2014).

In addition to practice and academia, Shahdeen Malik has served as the Honorary Director of the Bangladesh Institute of Legal and International Affairs (BILIA) (2010-2019); and worked as a consultant for various international organizations such the United Nations and DFID (UK) etc. Shahdeen Malik’s research and scholarship has been published in a number of international journals in the USA, Netherlands, Germany, India and Bangladesh.
