Akash Kumer Paul is a Lecturer in the Department of Physics at Gono Bishwabidyalay, Bangladesh. He completed his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. degrees in Physics from Jahangirnagar University. As a young researcher, his academic interests focus on computational materials science, condensed matter physics, semiconductor physics, and advanced materials for energy and emerging technologies.
His research interests include density functional theory (DFT), first-principles calculations, semiconductor and optoelectronic materials, photovoltaic materials, two-dimensional (2D) and Janus materials, perovskites, magnetic and spintronic materials, and materials for sensing applications. He is particularly interested in investigating the structural, electronic, optical, magnetic, mechanical, and thermodynamic properties of advanced materials and exploring their potential applications in next-generation energy, electronic, optoelectronic, and spintronic devices.
His research work has contributed to the theoretical investigation of a wide range of functional materials, including Janus monolayers, perovskite and anti-perovskite compounds, magnetic materials, and Zintl compounds. Through computational and first-principles approaches, his work aims to understand fundamental material properties and identify promising candidates for advanced technological applications.
He is actively involved in undergraduate teaching, student mentoring, and research activities in physics and materials science, with a particular interest in encouraging computational and interdisciplinary research among young researchers.
